How it works: from quote to policy

You fill in one short form, we send offers from the insurers we work with, and you choose one. Each offer names the insurer and comes with its product information document. The insurer issues the policy. Cover starts on the date shown in your policy schedule.

Which insurers do we place cover with?

An insurance company underwrites your policy, not DigiCare. The insurer carries the risk, issues the policy and pays claims. Every offer we send names that insurer. You can check any insurer on the Bank of Greece register of insurance undertakings before you buy.

Online, bank, insurer direct or local office: what changes?

Every route sells the same regulated insurance product, and your legal rights attach to the policy. What changes is how many insurers you see, who you deal with when you claim, and how the seller is paid. The table sets out the six common routes side by side.

Why DigiCare

What you get when you buy through us

We keep the process short and put the facts you need in front of you before you pay.
  • The insurer is named before you pay. Every offer states which insurer carries the risk, with its product information document to read first.

  • Six languages. This site and the quote form work in Greek, English, German, Polish, Hebrew and Russian.

  • A reminder before renewal. We write to you before your policy renews, so you can compare offers again.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to buy insurance online in Greece, and how do I check that an intermediary is registered?
Yes, if the seller is registered. Every insurance intermediary based in Greece must be entered in the registry of its professional chamber. You can search any intermediary by name, tax number or ΓΕΜΗ number in the ΕΣΗΠ registry. An intermediary from another EU country working in Greece under freedom of services appears in its home regulator's register and the EIOPA register. The Bank of Greece supervises insurance distribution under Law 4583/2018.
Does buying through an agency cost more than going to the insurer or a bank?
An insurance agent is paid a commission by the insurer, and that commission is already included in the premium (Law 4583/2018, Art. 5 and Art. 29). A bank that sells insurance acts as an agent and is paid the same way. A broker may also charge you a fee, but only under a written agreement, as the Bank of Greece explains.
Who helps me when I have a claim?
The insurer that issued your policy assesses the claim and pays it. Its claims contact and the documents it needs are in your policy and product information document. If you disagree with its decision, complain to the insurer first. It must answer in writing within 50 calendar days, and the Bank of Greece complaint form comes next.
How fast do I get my policy and certificate?
The insurer issues the policy once you accept an offer and pay. Cover starts on the date shown in the policy schedule, not on the day you send the form. For a car, make sure cover has started before anyone drives it, because third-party cover is compulsory on Greek roads.
Why is the price different on every site?
Each site quotes from its own panel of insurers, and each insurer prices risk its own way. Sites also assume different profiles when they show a starting price: age, postcode, vehicle, excess or cover level. Compare offers only for the same cover, the same excess and the same start date.
Can I insure a car with foreign plates, or buy cover without a Greek tax number?
It depends on the insurer and the product. Some policies need a Greek tax number (ΑΦΜ) or a Greek-registered vehicle, and others do not. Tell us your residency, the plate country and whether you have an ΑΦΜ in the quote form. We then send offers only from insurers that accept that profile.
Is earthquake cover included in home insurance in Greece?
Not always. Many home policies cover fire and basic perils and offer earthquake as an optional extra at an additional premium. The IPID lists which perils are included, so read it before you buy. Each home insurance offer we send states whether earthquake is covered.
How are claims paid after a declared natural disaster?
Your insurer pays under your own policy, and only for the perils it covers, such as fire, flood or earthquake if you added them. State support after a declared disaster is paid through the state-aid platform arogi.gov.gr. It is separate from insurance and does not replace it. The product information document shows which natural perils your policy includes.
