ΚΥΑ 133692/2024
Minimum cover for a residence permit, and what our plan pays
The policy covers you while you live in Greece; the law does not ask for EU-wide cover. Our guide to residence-permit health insurance requirements covers the full permit file.
Residence permit insurance cost
Price per person by age
Prices are per person, so a family pays each member's price. They include Greek insurance premium tax. The price goes by your age on your last birthday and buys the plan version with €500 accidental-death cover.
Cover is underwritten by Arch Insurance (EU) DAC, an Irish insurer authorised to work in Greece under the EU freedom to provide services (Bank of Greece register of insurance undertakings).
Get a quoteWhich permits need private health insurance
EU citizens do not need this policy, although non-working EU residents and students must hold comprehensive sickness cover. For fuller private cover see health insurance.
What the policy does not cover
- Private hospitals
- Illness in the first 30 days of the policy (6 months for gynaecological problems); accidents are covered from the start date
- Conditions you had before the policy started (unless you had 12 months of continuous cover with another insurer, see the FAQ)
- Dental and eye treatment, check-ups and cosmetic surgery
- Mental and nervous disorders
- Back, neck, joint and hernia conditions listed in the policy
- Communicable diseases
- Treatment outside Greece
- High-risk sports
On a covered €10,000 public-hospital bill, you pay €2,000 and the insurer pays €8,000, because your share is capped at 20% (ΚΥΑ 133692/2024).
How to get your certificate
For the quote you need your passport details, date of birth, address in Greece and the permit type. The insurer asks health questions.
