Terms of use

Last updated:

These terms apply when you use digicare-insurance.gr or ask DigiCare Insurance for an insurance quote. The insurance policy itself is a separate contract between you and the insurer, under the insurer's own terms.

Who we are

DigiCare Insurance is the trading name of Costas Matheou Insurance Agent, a licensed insurance agent registered in Cyprus with the Insurance Companies Control Service (ICCS), licence no. 2451. You can check the licence in the ICCS register of insurance intermediaries. We sell in Greece online only, under the EU freedom to provide services (Directive (EU) 2016/97, transposed in Greece by Law 4583/2018). We have no office in Greece. Business address and full details: legal information.

What we do, and what we do not do

  • We are an insurance agent, not an insurer. We arrange cover; the insurer named in your offer underwrites the policy, issues it and pays valid claims.
  • As an insurance agent, we act on behalf of the insurers whose products we distribute, not on your behalf as a broker would. Each offer names the insurer.
  • We advise you on the products we distribute. We do not give independent advice across the whole insurance market.
  • The insurer pays us a commission, which is already included in your premium. You pay us no fee.
  • The information on this website is general. It is not legal, tax or medical advice for your situation.

Quotes

Asking for a quote is free and does not commit you to buy. A quote is based on the details you give us and is indicative until the insurer accepts the risk and issues the policy. The insurer may change the price or decline cover if your details change or turn out to be incomplete. Quoted premiums include Greek insurance premium tax.

Before you buy

Before you agree to a policy, you receive the insurer's product information document (the IPID for non-life cover) and the policy terms, in Greek. Read them. They set out what is covered, the exclusions, the limits and the price. The contract is concluded only when the insurer issues the policy.

Your information must be correct

Give full and accurate answers to the questions we and the insurer ask. If information is wrong or missing, the insurer may change the premium, refuse a claim or cancel the policy, as its terms and Greek insurance law allow.

Your right to withdraw

A non-life insurance contract concluded at a distance, for example online or by e-mail, can be cancelled without penalty and without giving a reason within 14 calendar days. The period runs from the day the contract is concluded or the day you receive the contract terms and pre-contract information, whichever is later (Directive 2011/83/EU, Art. 16b, added by Directive (EU) 2023/2673). The right does not apply to travel, baggage or similar cover lasting less than one month. Life insurance has its own cancellation period under insurance law. The insurer's pre-contract documents state the exact period for your policy and how to withdraw. A quote request is not a contract, so there is nothing to withdraw from until a policy is issued.

Our responsibility

We are responsible for our own service as your insurance agent, under the law that applies to it. We are not responsible for the insurer's decisions on underwriting, price or claims. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have as a consumer that the law does not allow us to limit.

Law, courts and language

These terms are governed by Greek law. If you are a consumer living in Greece, you can bring a dispute before the Greek courts, and you keep the protection of Greek consumer law. These terms are published in several languages; if they differ, the Greek text prevails.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version on this page, with its date, is the one that applies when you use the site or ask for a quote.
